I have been so excited to write and share this post, probably because I am writing about one of my favourite things… Summer beauty. To me, there is nothing more beautiful to look at than dewy skin with a summer glow. I love makeup that lets your skin shine through, but I totally understand that sometimes there are some bits that may need covered up, like those annoying, demoralising breakouts or baggy eyes after late summer nights.
I tend not to wear too much makeup these days, unless I have something on or I’m going into the city, but when my Croatian tan fades and the tiny freckles I’ve acquired disappear, I know I’ll be digging deep in the makeup bag again. So this is what I’m using to throw my face together in an attempt to achieve “that summer glow” at the moment…
CHARLOTTE TILBURY WONDERGLOW
First up, depending on the day, I’ll either use Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow on its own or underneath my foundation and sometimes even as a highlighter on top. It’s been a go-to product of mine for a while now, due to how versatile and beautiful it really is. With having oilier skin, I only use a tiny amount of this primer.
I recently picked up Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser in shade Malaga, which is too dark for me now. I was super tanned at the time of buying it, but due to how light the texture it is, I’m still getting away with using it without looking too dark for the time being (which is good because I’m currently on a spending ban). The texture is, again, so versatile, you can layer it to add to the coverage or tone it right down if you just need a tiny boost. This is why I love summer makeup!
NARS SOFT MATTE CONCEALER
I mentioned previously in the post about those annoying breakouts that can happen, and to me, far too often! I used to really stress out with breakouts, which probably made them worse, and I still do to an extent (who doesn’t!), until I stumbled across this beauty. Say hello to Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer, a god send! I use this to cover up and blur any blemishes or imperfections, and I often use it on its own with no foundation if I’m just looking for a quick fix. It’s really high coverage without looking cakey and I’m currently using it in the colour Ginger (Medium 2) with a blending concealer brush to buff it in to the skin.
BOBBI BROWN POT ROUGE, UBER BEIGE
Another beauty product I cannot live without, in summer and all year round, is the Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Uber Beige. I got introduced to this product last year and I am actually questioning whether I’ve went a day without using it since… A flush of colour really helps to freshen up my makeup and cream blushes like this one blended into the apples of your cheeks looks natural but fresh on the skin. It’s another multi-tasker, I often use it for a sweep of colour on my lips too!
ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS BROW WIZ
Brows are a game changer for me and I’ve tried and tested countless eyebrow products. On a daily basis, and especially in Summer, I tend to only lightly fill in any sparse areas and give them a little bit more shape with Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Wiz in the shade Dark Brown. A good brow adds shape to my face and if I’m not wearing makeup, I often go over them with my Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows brow gel in the shade Supermodel. This adds some colour to the brows and allows me to brush them up and into shape.
I’d love to say that’s everything, but we all know that “no makeup makeup” actually requires a lot more products than the name suggests… What are your Summer beauty essentials?!
