This year’s AW17 fashion weeks shed light into the idea that yellow is fast becoming a favourite in the fashion world, that granny knits are incoming better than ever and that tonal dressing has placed itself as the in thing. However, most importantly to me, AW17 is all about an upgrade on basics, proving that there is nothing more flawless than a woman wearing clothes that not only look amazing, but also allow her to feel her most comfortable, true self.
And that is where this years “hero” piece steps in. The blazer. No one can resit that smart-yet-sexy look that the blazer adds to almost every outfit; this simple wardrobe update introduces a luxe edge to your day-to-day jeans and t-shirt look, or can even dress down that slip dress you’ve been dying to wear but never found the occasion for.
For exploring the outskirts of Sydney last weekend, I let my inner tomboy come through by pairing boyish denim with a white t-shirt and a pair of trainers. The addition of a blazer helped to elevate my regular uniform just enough, so that if we did happen to step into some glam bar or cafe on the way home, I wouldn’t feel totally out of place. When it’s getting colder outside, I tend to reach for nothing but jeans on the bottom half, and even more so since I recently found what I think might be my favourite pair of jeans ever: Levi Wedgie Straight Leg welcome to my wardrobe (/backpack). But that’s for another post…

Almost errrrything above is Topshop, and as you’ll have probably guessed, I was so disappointed to hear Topshop haven’t taken off as successfully in Australia as they have in the UK/US. I’m hoping that changes soon because I would be lost without a trip to Topshop every so often, even on a backpacker’s budget! I’m in the process of writing a loooong post all about my experience in Sydney so far which will hopefully be useful for anyone thinking of coming here, so stay tuned!
